Here is an excerpt from a special conversation with Jahnavi Kapoor
What was the most difficult and easiest thing to play Gunjan's character?
There was nothing difficult and nothing was easy. All the things in it were fun. There was a lot to learn in this, the character of Gunjan Maam is very different from mine because the life that he has lived, the work he has done is very different. But I have been able to join them somewhere as a nature and as a belief. What is their outlook for them and according to them is very simple. They believe that with hard work and honesty, you will reach where you want to reach, and make as much noise as possible, your work is most important. So I think this thing could join me.
First you did a romantic film, then horror films and now you will be seen in a film based on patriotism. So what do you pay more attention to when choosing a character?
My approach is a little selfish in this matter. People themselves told me that for a long term career, I should think a little more. But from this experience, what I will learn from these people from these characters is my first priority. Such films that I would be interested in watching, this is just my approach.
The film was to be released on theaters but is now released on OTT, what to say about this?
There is good feeling, because whatever is happening in the world, we are the biggest. At this time everyone's priority should be to be safe. In this environment, we are able to reach the film to the people, so this is the best film for us.
When you have a script, do you talk to your sister, father or any family member?
I discuss everything with my father. I don't have much experience with them. Karan is also always involved in this. And I am happy that these two people are involved in my life, for whose advice I can look at them. I consider myself very lucky to find them. But I trust my father the most.
Everyone says that the benefits of being a star kid are many. Can you tell us what are the disadvantages of being a star kid?
Every coin has two aspects, I pay attention to positivity. I got so much because of this thing. Yes, it will have a down side. Pressure is high, expectations are high, criticism is also done more. Attention gets more. But I think at least I have reached the camera. The down side is everything, but by paying attention to it nothing is going to be achieved.
Which director do you want to work with?
I want to work with Anurag Basu, Imtiaz Ali, Karan Johar, Rohit Shetty. I really want to work with Karan. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I want to work with every director for experience. But the fact is that I would like to work in every film with Sharan. Even if I have to do a supporting role in that film. I am ready
