ITBP Women show stamina ahead of International Womens Day, winning 17 out of 26 medals


ITBP players also qualified for many international competitions

Corona era The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has performed brilliantly in various sports competitions, bypassing the practice hurdles. ITBP Out of the total 26 medals won by women in various sports competitions, 17 have been won by women.

So far in the year 2021 ITBP climbers (ITBP Mountaineering) has hoisted a record 220 peaks in India and abroad. ITBP climbers successfully climbed the peaks of Mount Leo Pargil (22,222 ft) and Mount Gangotri-II (21,615 ft) on 31 August. On 20 December 2020, Manisha Maun, a member of the ITBP Central Boxing Team, won the gold medal of the Boxing World Cup competition in Cologne, Germany, defeating compatriot Sakshi in the final of 57 kg category. Manisha was also selected in the elite women’s team to represent India in the international boxing tournament ‘Boxam’ at Castellion, Spain from March 1-7 this year.

On 22 January 2021, the ITBP ice hockey team won the UT in the finals of the 10th National Ice Hockey Championship Trophy in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir. Won the national ice hockey competition by defeating Ladakh 5–1. 8 top national teams of the country participated in this championship. The ITBP ice hockey team was also the runner-up in 3 prestigious tournaments – Fire and Fury Cup, Ladakh LG Cup and Khelo India Championship.

ITBP’s Wushu team won a total of 7 medals at the 29th Senior National Wushu Championship in Chandigarh, including 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 01 bronze medal in the men’s 85 kg category and +90 kg category. In the women’s 56 kg category, Vidyapati Chanu won the gold and Sanyogita Singh won the silver medal. Priyanka won the gold medal in the 45 kg category. Maneka Devi won the gold medal in the 70 kg weight category. Harish won a silver medal in the men’s 85 kg weight category. Choba Devi won the silver medal in 52 kg and Pradeep won the bronze medal in +90 kg. The women’s team won the overall championship trophy, while the ITBP team finished third in the championship.

In the second edition of the ‘Khelo India’ Winter Games in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, ITBP skiers Prince Kumari and Babita won gold and silver medals respectively in the women’s 10 km cross country. Prince Kumari also won a gold medal in the women’s 5 km cross country and a silver medal in the 1.4 km sprint race. ITBP won 02 gold and 02 silver medals in the Games. 7.5 km at Biathlon Woman National. Won 01 gold and 01 silver medal in cross country.

ITBP. Karambir, the player of the Central Judo team of the World Cup, was selected in the Asia Oceania Judo Championship. From 3 to 10 January 2021, Raveshwar Singh Rana, player of the Central Equestrian Team of the ITBP, won 2 silver medals at the National Equestrian Championships, Dressage in New Delhi.
