Honda Cars India today launched the new City e: HEV at a price of Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company said that the City e: HEV is its first car to be equipped with hybrid electric technology. The new generation Honda City is powered by a self-charging two-motor hybrid system mated to a 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 126 PS of peak power and a mileage of 26.5 kmpl. The standard petrol-powered City ZX CVT claims 18.4kpl.

Will run on both electric and petrol
This car can not only be driven like a petrol car, it can also run like a fully electric car and can run in hybrid mode i.e. on petrol and electric simultaneously.

Will get three driving modes
City E: HEV comes with three driving modes EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive. It also gets several safety features, including segment-first active safety features like Anti Braking System (ABS), Cruise Control, RDM, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Autonomous Emergency Braking. It’s all bundled up in the Honda Sensing Suite. Apart from this, the City E: HEV Hybrid gets 6 airbags, ORVM-mounted lane-watch camera, multi-angle rear-view camera, a tire pressure monitoring system.

2022 Honda City e: HEV Design and Specifications
With styling matching the current 5th generation City, the hybrid variant gets a few distinct cosmetic elements that help it stand out. These include a blue outline on the Honda logo, a tailgate-mounted e:HEV badge, new fog light garnish, an updated diffuser design on the rear bumper and a boot lid spoiler.

8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system
The interior cabin layout remains the same as on the City E: HEV, apart from the new City 37 connected features including an updated 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, ambient lighting in the hybrid sedan, The updated version of the Honda Connect gets an electric sunroof and Amazon Echo, Google Assistant and smartwatch (iOS and Android) integration.

2022 Honda City E: HEV Competition
The City Hybrid will compete with the top-spec variants of the Volks Wagon Vertus, Skoda Slavia, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

3 years unlimited kilometer warranty
Honda is producing this model in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The company will now start delivering the model from its dealer network across the country soon after the launch. The company is giving a standard 3-year unlimited kilometer warranty. Along with this, a warranty of 8 years or 1.6 lakh km is being given on the Lithium Ion battery from the date of purchase of the car.

Honda is planning to launch 30 EV models globally by 2030. The company aims to invest around USD 40 billion in the EV space over the next 10 years.
