Mumbai Indians won the title of 13th season of IPL.

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly has recently signed a proposal to hold the tournament every year at the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting. Whereas BCCI had earlier opposed the ICC to hold the tournament every year. Now regarding the changed stand of the board, the report of cricket website Cric Buzz has claimed that BCCI has made a deal with the ICC for the IPL.

In fact, in the ICC meeting held on 1 June, every year from 2024 to 2031, all the members of the ICC major tournament were approved. Under this, two ODI World Cups, four T20 World Cups and two Champions Trophy were approved in these eight years. Whereas it was being opposed by the BCCI earlier. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had said, ‘Less things are more in life, so we have to be careful with it. Football World Cup happens every four years and you can see the craziness among the fans for it. Now the ICC has to decide what to do. Whenever I get a chance to discuss, I will present my side.

But the surprising thing is that Ganguly has signed the proposal to hold the tournament every year in the ICC meeting.

10 teams in IPL from next year
The report claimed that Ganguly signed the ICC proposal instead of getting more window for the IPL, as the Ganguly-led BCCI has approved two other teams in the IPL from next year. Presently there are eight teams in IPL and it takes 52-54 days to organize a tournament. With two teams growing, the IPL needs about 75 days. Since players from all countries play in IPL, no board organizes international tournaments during this period. BCCI wants ICC not to hold any tournament between extended days. That is why the board agreed to sign it, leaving the ICC’s policy of opposing the tournament every year.

Tender for two new teams of IPL after remaining matches
The tender process for two new teams for the IPL was to be held in May, but the BCCI postponed it due to the increasing cases of Corona. Now it is expected that BCCI can announce it after the remaining matches of IPL 14 are over. It has been announced by the BCCI to hold the remaining matches in the UAE. It is expected that the remaining matches will be held between September 19 and October 10. Although the schedule has not been released yet.
