Sonam Wangchuk has developed eco-friendly tents for the army heated by solar energy.

Srinagar:

Inventor and academician Sonam Wangchuk (Sonam Wangchuk) has developed a solar-friendly environmentally friendly tent (Tent) which can be used by Army soldiers in ultra-cold areas like Siachen and Galvan Valley of Ladakh. Please tell that Phungsuk Wangdu’s character in the Bollywood superhit film ‘Three Idiots’ (3 Idiots) was based on Wangchuk. Wangchuk has invented many eco-friendly inventions. He said that military tents heated by solar energy will save fossil fuels. Side effects on the environment It will increase the security of the soldiers as well.

“These tents accumulate solar energy during the day and act as a hot chamber of gold for the soldiers at night,” said Wangchuk. Since it does not use fossil fuels, it does not save money as well as emissions. ”The inventor explained that the temperature of the gold chamber in military tents raised and lowered the number of insulated layers more or less. May go.

“The gold chamber has four layers and it has a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius outside when it is minus 14 degrees Celsius outside,” Wangchuk said. The number of layers can be reduced at hot spots.

He said that there should not be a very comfortable temperature inside the tent as the soldiers should be ready to fight the enemies in the open as areas like Galvan Valley have a temperature of less than minus 30 degrees Celsius.
Referring to the deadlock at the Indo-China border in Ladakh, Wangchuk said that he had built early versions of solar-heated tents 15 years ago for shepherds of Pashmina goats.

Wangchuk, referring to the format for the new tent, said that it can be easily moved from one place to another and it can carry 10 soldiers. He said, “No part of the tent weighs more than 30 kg, so that it can be easily moved from one place to another. Tents can be separated into 30 to 40 sections.

Wangchuk said that the weight of each part of the tent can be brought up to 20 kg by using very light aluminum. “That version would be costlier than the current prototype,” he said. Wangchuk admitted that the military helped develop the solar-heated tents.
