Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India has set a target of 30 to 35 percent reduction in carbon emissions and will achieve this in a time bound manner. The Prime Minister gave this information while addressing the convocation ceremony of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

The Prime Minister said, today our country is moving towards achieving the goal of reducing carbon footprints by more than one-third. When we had put this thing in front of the world, everyone was left wondering if India can achieve this goal. He said, efforts have been made to increase the capacity of natural gas consumption four times in this decade. Efforts are also being made to double the capacity of oil refining during the next five years.

The Prime Minister said that the government is also encouraging startups in energy sector. Special funds have also been announced for this. PM Modi told the students, if you have any idea, product or project that you want to pursue, then help can be provided through Startup Fund. This is a good opportunity and a gift from the government. In the oil and gas sector alone, crores of rupees have been invested in this decade alone. Therefore, there are immense possibilities for you in this area.
