In the first test match being played in Kanpur, Team India won the toss against New Zealand and decided to bat first. Team India has given place to 3 spinners and two fast bowlers in the playing XI. After the T20 series, the Indian team is also being considered as the favorite for this series. At the same time, the eyes of the Kiwi team will be on forgetting the crushing defeat in T20 and making a new beginning.

Both Teams:

IND: Shubman Gill, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (c), Shreyas Iyer, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav

NZ: Tom Latham, Will Young, Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Tom Blundell (wk), Rachin Ravindra, Tim Southee, Ajaz Patel, Kyle Jamieson, William Somerville

Iyer becomes 303rd player
Shreyas Iyer has become the 303rd player to make his Test debut for India. Before the toss, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar handed over his Test cap to Iyer. The 26-year-old Iyer played his first ODI and T20I for India in the year 2017. In 22 ODIs played so far, he has scored 813 runs at an average of 42.79 and 580 runs in 31 International T20 matches with an average of 27.62.

Team India will land only with three spinners
Captain Rahane has already told before the match that batsman Shreyas Iyer will debut in Test cricket from this match and the Indian team will come with three spinners. Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel can be the three spinners. All three of these players are capable of contributing with the bat as well. On the other hand, New Zealand’s team can go with 3 spinners and 2 fast bowlers.

Number-1 clash without 6 giants: First Test match between India and New Zealand in Kanpur from today, Team India will land with three spinners

There is no legend in Team India
Many star players of the Indian team will not be seen for this test series. Team India will be seen on the field in the absence of captain Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. The team may not even be big names, but the team still includes names like Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Kohli will be available for the second test match.

The responsibility of captaining the team in Kanpur will rest on Rahane’s shoulders. Under Rahane’s captaincy, India has played 5 Test matches so far and the team has won 4 of them. One match ended in a draw.

New Zealand strong on Williamson’s return
The return of captain Kane Williamson is sure to strengthen the batting of New Zealand’s team. Williamson had taken rest from the three-match T20I series. Williamson has played 3 Test matches this year and scored 353 runs at an average of 88.25. These include 1 century and 1 half-century. However, this year, New Zealand has definitely suffered a setback due to the absence of Devon Conway, who proved to be New Zealand’s best batsman. Conway has scored 379 runs in 3 test matches in 2021. These include 1 century and 2 half-centuries. The average has been 63.16.

New Zealand is the WTC champion
In June this year, the final of the World Test Championship was played between India and New Zealand, which NZ won by defeating India by 8 wickets. In the last five-six years, the Kiwi team has shown a very good game in every format of cricket. Finalist of 2015 and 2019 ODI World Cup, was also runner-up of T20 World Cup this year. In such a situation, Williamson & Co cannot be taken lightly in this Test series at all.

turn to win fours
The Indian team has won three consecutive matches held at Green Park. In this sense, the team will have a chance to score a victory here. India beat South Africa by 8 wickets in 2008, Sri Lanka by an innings and 144 runs in 2009 and New Zealand by 197 runs in 2016.
