The Indian women’s hockey team, which finished fourth in the Tokyo Olympics, restricted England to a 1-1 draw in the ongoing World Cup in Amstelveen on Sunday. England took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of the match with the help of Isabella Peter’s goal. Vandana Kataria scored in the 29th minute to level India.
India got a penalty corner in the first minute itself
The Indian team started well in this match and got a penalty corner in the very first minute. However, this was not scored. England then continued the counter attack and finally took the lead in the 9th minute. The first quarter ended on the score line 1–0 in favor of England.
India equalized in the second quarter
England held their lead for most of the second quarter. In the 28th minute, India got their fourth penalty corner of the match. Vandana Katariya scored a goal on the rebound to equalize the team. There were several attacks from both the teams in the third and fourth quarters but none were successful in scoring.
Now there will be clash with China
The Indian team will take on China in their second match in Pool B. This match will be played on Tuesday.
