The Income Tax Department has given a refund of Rs 84,781 crore to 59.51 lakh taxpayers from April 1, 2021 to October 11, 2021. Out of this, refund of Rs 22,214 crore has been given as personal income tax refund to 57.83 lakh taxpayers. At the same time, 1.68 lakh taxpayers have been given corporate tax refund of Rs 62,567 crore.
In this way you can check the status of your refund
If the refund has not been received yet, then this could be the reason for this
wrong bank account information
CA Abhay Sharma (Former President Indore Chartered Accountant Branch) says that recently many banks have been merged with other banks. In such a situation, IFSC codes of many banks have changed. If you have not updated your bank account details with the Income Tax Department, your refund may get stuck. You can update it by visiting https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal sitting at home.
Bank account must be pre-validated
Get the bank account pre-validated (already verified) in the bank account in which the income tax refund is to be received. After filing the Income Tax Return (ITR), if any refund is made to you, then it is received by you through the Centralized Processing Center (CPC) of the Income Tax Department. For this, it is important that your bank account is pre-validated so that you do not get delayed in getting your refund.
Even if the return is not verified, it takes more time
You filed your return on time, but you may not have verified the ITR. Unless you verify, your return will not be processed. That is, it is necessary to verify the ITR that you have filed. This can also be the reason for the delay in getting the refund.
Income Tax Department not responding to emails
According to CA Abhay Sharma, refund can also get stuck due to non-reply to the e-mail sent by the Income Tax Department. In the e-mail sent by the Income Tax Department, information is sought from the taxpayers about their outstanding demand, their bank account and any discrepancy in the refund. Your refund may get stuck even if you do not provide this information at the right time.
Refund usually comes in 2 to 3 months
It usually takes about a month for the tax refund to come after ITR processing. Normally it takes 2 to 3 months to complete the processing of ITR from the centralized processing sector.
