Islamabad:

Pakistan’s Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Monday claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan had fled to a neighbor’s house by scaling the wall of his Lahore residence a day earlier to escape arrest in the Toshakhana case. Sanaullah’s comments came after the Islamabad police reached Lahore on Sunday to arrest Khan, but returned without arresting him. Khan’s legal team had assured the police that he would appear in court on March 7.

Geo TV quoted Sanaullah as saying, “Yesterday, the police team that went to arrest Khan faced a dramatic turn of events. It is rumored that he (Khan) jumped over the wall and fled to his neighbour’s house. Shortly thereafter, he gave a speech.” The minister said that this was not an appropriate strategy if the police wanted to arrest the former prime minister.
