Chennai. IIT Madras has launched online degree program of BSc in Corona era. This degree will be offered in Programming and Data Science. In this way, IIT Madras has become the first institute in the country to run online B.Sc degree program.
Director of IIT Madras Prof. NewsBust India Ramamurthy told Dainik NewsBust India that data science degree course is the need of the hour, which is designed keeping employment in mind. It has been launched in view of the demand of data scientists and the lack of suitably qualified human resources in the job market. This program will prove to be a game changer in the field of Indian education. By 2026, 125 million jobs will also be created in this sector.
Will be able to do the course only after graduation
Professor Ramamurthy said that this course is not for children who have completed schooling. For this course, you must pass regular degree course in any discipline. This course is very useful for those who are already working. Especially have left the studies. Apart from this, you do not need lab for this online course and programming can be done easily at home. Students must complete the Foundation level, Diploma and Degree level to obtain a BSc degree. In addition, there are three exit levels. Students can opt out of the course at any stage. They can either complete all three levels of the degree, or drop out after completing a foundation or diploma.
Online course with many NIIT
IIT Madras has been running several online courses with many NIITs across the country since 2005. But this is the first degree course. The date of its admission has not been decided yet.
There will be 4 weeks online course and assignment for admission
Admission will require a four-week online course and assignment. Students who will be able to bring the passing marks in the Weekly Assignment will be given the chance of qualifier exam. Students who bring the passing marks in the qualifier exam will get a chance to register at the foundational level. There will be 8 courses at the foundational level while 6 programming courses and 6 data science courses will be held at diploma level. There are 11 courses at degree level.
