A video of a Japanese woman being allegedly harassed and forcibly touched by some people on Holi had surfaced on social media.

Three persons, including a teenager, have been arrested after a video of some men allegedly harassing and forcibly touching a Japanese woman on Holi in the national capital Delhi surfaced on social media. The police gave this information on Saturday. It is seen in this video that some people are applying color to a foreigner and that foreigner woman seems to be uncomfortable. It is also seen in the video that a person breaks an egg on his head. She can be heard saying ‘bye bye’.

A senior police officer said that the girl has not made any complaint, but the police, taking suo motu cognizance, has registered an FIR under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code. According to the police, this video is of Holi day on March 8 and it was made in Paharganj. Police say that the girl seen in the video is a Japanese tourist who stayed in Paharganj and left for Bangladesh on Friday.

The Japanese woman told in a series of tweets on Saturday that she had posted the video of the incident, but later removed it. The woman tweeted, “On March 9, I tweeted a video of the Indian festival Holi and after that I started receiving more objectionable messages beyond my imagination, which horrified me and deleted the tweet.” I apologize to those people who were hurt by the video.” She said,” I had heard that it is very dangerous for a woman to go out alone on Holi. I wanted to participate in this Indian festival and so I participated along with 35 other friends but unfortunately this situation has arisen,” the woman tweeted. Helped. He told that three persons including a juvenile have been arrested in the case. He told that all three have accepted their involvement in the incident seen in the video and they are residents of nearby Paharganj.

He told that an official of the embassy has confirmed that no complaint has been made in response to an e-mail. Delhi Police Women’s Commission Chairperson Swati Maliwal had said that she is issuing a notice to the Delhi Police to investigate the video and arrest the culprits. The National Commission for Women has also taken cognizance of this video and directed the Delhi Police to register an FIR in this matter. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has appealed to people not to share ‘misleading information’ on social media regarding the number of crimes committed on Holi in the national capital.
