The Trinamool Congress, after several hours of political effort, saved itself from the trouble caused by another MP of the party holding the BJP. After an hour-long meeting with Abhishek Banerjee, MP from Diamond Harbor and nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, party MP Shatabdi Roy put all speculations to a halt.
Shatabdi Roy, who came into politics from the world of acting, said, “I am with Trinamool Congress, my problems with the party have been overcome by Abhishek Banerjee. The party has maintained my pride. I came into politics because of Mamata Banerjee Thea. I’m with them. ” Shatabdi Roy had earlier said that she was mentally distressed as she was not allowed to meet the people of her parliamentary constituency nor was she invited to party programs.
Shatabdi Roy, MP from Birbhum, was to leave for Delhi at seven in the morning on Saturday. There was speculation that she might meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi and she could join BJP. However, on Friday evening, Shatabdi said that he had canceled the program in Delhi.
Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh took Shatabdi Roy with him to Abhishek Banerjee’s office. Ghosh met Shatabdi in the morning. Ghosh said that if TMC workers have any complaint with the party, they should speak so that they can be diagnosed. The BJP was shocked by the TMC MP’s sudden U-turn, but said that it shows how fragile the situation of Trinamool Congress is.
BJP state vice-president Jai Prakash Majumdar said, “Shatabdi Roy has said that she is not going to Delhi tomorrow, but she did not say that she will not go to Delhi in future also. Trinamool Congress should think why one after the other The leader is behaving like this. ” So far, one MP and seven MLAs have left the Trinamool Congress and joined the BJP.
