Generally Hindus do not participate in riots. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this to NewsBust on Thursday. Whereas strong allegations are leveled against BJP regarding its approach. The party is blamed for most of the communal violence in the country.

Sarma in the context of his said statement inciting rhetoric by his party leaders, “love jihad” and his remarks on Aftab Poonawalla, the man arrested in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, or Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s 2002 riots”. He said on publicizing the claims of love jihad, there is a conspiracy in which Muslim men are accused of wooing Hindus. Women are forced to accept Islam.
Sarma said, “I see this (ignoring love jihad) as appeasement politics by some people. It is a matter of concern for the safety of women. There is evidence of love jihad. Even Aftab Poonawalla’s The polygraph test also said that he disclosed that his deeds would be exposed and he would get Jannat. There are reports on this.”
On Amit Shah’s comment, he said, “Since 2002, the Gujarat government took several actions to ensure peace in the state. There is permanent peace in Gujarat. Now there is no curfew.”
He said, “There is peace in Gujarat since 2002 because of what the Gujarat government has done. Action has been taken against the rioters. I have to ensure that there is peace in Assam as well.”
Sarma claimed, “Hindus are peace-loving. They do not indulge in riots. Hindus as a community also do not believe in Jihad. Hindu community will never indulge in riots.”
