Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is going to introduce its cheapest bike today (Wednesday, March 15). Through the new bike, Honda wants to compete with Hero MotoCorp in the entry-level commuter motorcycle segment. This bike will give competition to the best selling Hero Splendor, HF Deluxe and Bajaj Platina in the country.
The name of this bike can be ‘Honda Shine 100’. The bike will be a smaller version of the company’s popular Honda Shine 125cc. The company recently released the marketing video of the bike on social media platforms with the tagline ‘Kam Kharcha, Zyada Charcha’.
what to expect from new bike
The new bike will come with fairing, wide pull-back handlebar, single-piece seat, alloy wheels and side-slung exhaust and simple design. Apart from this, the bike can also see telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear, drum brake with optional front disc brake variant and analog console with digital readout.
Price can be close to 70 thousand rupees
This will be Honda’s lowest engine capacity bike. It will get a 100cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that will be RDE compliant and run on E20 fuel. The price of the bike is expected to be close to 70,000 (ex-showroom).
Currently, the Honda CD 110 Dream is the most affordable motorcycle from the company. Its price is Rs 71,133 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The new 100cc model is expected to be priced lower than the Honda CD 110 Dream.
Honda’s EV will come soon
Last year, the company had unveiled its electric scooter – EM1 e at EICMA 2022. It is the first electric two-wheeler from the auto maker for the European market. According to the company, the scooter will be launched in summer next year. Honda is also planning to introduce more electric bikes globally in the next two years.
