Earlier, the government has ordered 1.1 million doses of the company. From Pune on Tuesday morning, the dispatch of the planes has started with the shipment of vaccines to various cities. According to the order placed on Monday, the cost of each vaccine dose will be Rs 200 and the total cost will be Rs 210 with Rs 10 GST.

On Monday on behalf of the Union Health Ministry, HLL Lifecare Limited, a public sector undertaking, placed an order for the supply of vaccines. According to sources, the cost of the first order of 1.1 crore doses of Kovishield will come to Rs 231 crore, while the total price including 4.5 crore doses of future will be around Rs 1,176 crore. Prakash Kumar Singh, Additional Director, Government and Regulatory Affairs at Serum Institute of India (SII), and RS Manku, vice-president (government affairs), said in a letter, “It is informed that from April 2021, Serum Institute of India Private Limited Commitment has been expressed to buy 4.5 crore more doses of the vaccine, which will cost Rs 200 per dose and will attract GST. ”

According to the letter, “This is a further order for the supply of 1.1 crore doses given on the date of January 11 of the Kovishield vaccine.” DCGI had on January 3 approved limited use of the vaccine in an emergency. “The government on Monday also ordered Bharat Biotech to purchase 55 lakh doses of indigenously developed vaccine Covaxin for Rs 162 crore. The vaccination campaign of Kovid-19 in India is going to start on 16 January.
