Significantly, elections were held on Sunday for the Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar municipal corporations of Gujarat. According to the State Election Commission, 46.1 percent of the voters had voted. According to the final figures released by the Commission, Ahmedabad recorded the lowest turnout of 42.5 percent and Jamnagar 53.4 percent. Apart from this, there was 50.7 percent polling in Rajkot, 49.5 percent in Bhavnagar, 47.8 percent in Vadodara and 47.1 percent in Surat. According to the release, out of a total of 1.14 crore registered voters in six cities, 52.83 lakh people had voted on Sunday.
