Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni-backed drone startup Garuda Aerospace has become the first startup to get agri subsidy for its agriculture drones. This subsidy is a part of the Government of India’s initiative to promote the use of Agri Drones.
In addition, this subsidy will help Garuda Aerospace to expand operations and make its drones easier to reach farmers in India. DGCA-approved ‘Garuda Kisan Drones’ were given to 8 farmers under this subsidy scheme in Pune on Tuesday (April 11).
What is this subsidy scheme?

How can agriculture change with the use of drones?
India is the second largest country in the world in terms of population and the seventh largest country in terms of area. In such a situation, it is very challenging to provide food security to such a large population. That’s why it is necessary that modern and technical farming should be expanded instead of traditional farming. Due to rising cost of farming and natural calamities, farmers are also facing losses from farming.
In such a situation, precision farming done through technology like drones can give a better option to the farmers of the country. Using drones, farmers can increase their income by reducing cost and saving time. Spraying pesticides in the traditional way has an effect on health. But this can be avoided by using drones.
