1) muddy zenith

Phanishwarnath Renu was known for his distinctive writing style in which regional idioms and language were used more. He is counted among the revolutionary writers.

Let’s start with Hindi book. Written by Phanishwarnath Renu, ‘Maila Aanchal’ was published in 1954 and its story goes from 1942 to post-independence. It is considered the first and best regional novel in Hindi literature. The story is of a backward rural area in north-east Bihar, bordering Nepal, where Doctor Prashant reaches. They do research on malaria and Kala-azar, but there they are faced with the superstition, evil practices, social exploitation and plight of the farmers in the village. Maila Aanchal presents the life of the village of Hindustan, its dialect, language, folk culture, beliefs, beliefs, customs and their joys and sorrows in a very believable manner. I like its versatility the most.

2) Pride and Prejudice

This novel was written by Jane Austin in 1797. It was published in 1813. At that time advocating for the independent views of women was a revolution in itself.

This novel was written by Jane Austin in 1797. It was published in 1813. At that time advocating for the independent views of women was a revolution in itself.

This book by Jane Austen is counted among the most famous and most interesting novels of all time. Pride and Prejudice is a love story between two starkly opposite characters who live in a Victorian era where the shackles of social structure and etiquette are unbroken. The novel proves to be an introspective journey of a young woman trying to navigate the twists and turns of societal expectations. I really liked the power of love in this.

3) Chhava

Chhava novel is considered to be an account of the historical relations between the Marathas and the Mughals as well as the family relations of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

Chhava novel is considered to be an account of the historical relations between the Marathas and the Mughals as well as the family relations of Chhatrapati Shivaji.

Written by the author Shivaji Samant, ‘Chhava’ is a big and historical novel, Which puts Chhatrapati Shivaji’s son Sambhaji at the centre. It also tells you about the Maratha and Mughal history, their rule, culture, war-life etc. I believe that once you start it is difficult to keep up with this book without finishing it. I liked the emotions and the enthusiasm in it.

4) McDonald’s: Behind the Arches

This novel is the story of the growth of a big idea in a small restaurant.

This novel is the story of the growth of a big idea in a small restaurant.

This story is an incredible story of McDonald’s journey from just a small restaurant to a multinational. Raymond Kroc’s vision looks incomparable, and the application of science to a business like making burgers, unimaginable. Every entrepreneur must read. I found its easy flow fun.

5) Yayati

Originally written in Marathi, the novel has been translated into many languages till now.

Originally written in Marathi, the novel has been translated into many languages till now.

This book written by Vishnu Khandekar seems to me to be the most vivid depiction of the life of an emperor. This is my favorite mythological novel. A prince who has to match the deeds of his ancestors but who also fears curse. Who does not want the comforts of palaces but is compelled by not having any other way. One who is lustful and cannot bear the restraint of his wife. The best portrayal of the feelings of such a man has been done by the author. Nice historical analysis.

6) The Fountainhead

Ann Rand gave birth to a new philosophical ideology 'Objectivism' and this book is considered to be its original text.

Ann Rand gave birth to a new philosophical ideology ‘Objectivism’ and this book is considered to be its original text.

Ann Rand’s novel ‘The Fountainhead’ gives us the message to increase our individual strength, and not to crush ourselves under the pressure of society. Howard Roark There is a visionary architect in a city where individuality is not appreciated. He is ahead of his time and the world is not ready for him. Roark refuses to compromise and society has no choice but to destroy him, as he is so different. It is also the story of Peter Keating, who considers Roark to be his worst enemy. I found the struggle of the characters and the portrayal of Vijay amazing.

7) Raag-Darbari

Raag Darbari has been translated into almost every Indian language.

Raag Darbari has been translated into almost every Indian language.

The next book, Raag Darbari, published in 1968, is considered the best satirical work of Hindi literature. Its author is Srilal Shukla. This is my favorite satirical book. It is about a village named Shivpalganj, where the government machinery has become absolutely corrupt and the situation is getting worse day by day. People are engaged in the fulfillment of their selfish interests and the development of the village is stalled. This book seems even more relevant in today’s times. Written in a satirical style, this book has a classical status in Hindi literature. I liked the author’s sense of humor in this.

8) Origin of Species

In 1859, when Charles Darwin gave the theory of evolution in this book, no one was ready to accept it. Later this book came to be considered as the Bible of Evolutionary Science.

In 1859, when Charles Darwin gave the theory of evolution in this book, no one was ready to accept it. Later this book came to be considered as the Bible of Evolutionary Science.

This book by Charles Darwin is one of the most famous and influential books of his (and any) time. But this book is, surprisingly, rarely read. This book greatly changed the thinking of the world and man. It is a powerful and engaging book even a century after its first publication. Technical insight into the origins of all species in the world was, and is, a revolution in itself. I liked its solid technical base, deep intellectual logic, and Darwin’s confidence.
