Free books will be given to the students of all classes from class 9 to 12 in Uttarakhand. This arrangement will be applicable from next year. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made this announcement during the review of the Education Department on Tuesday. At present, only reserved category students are given free books in the state. Also, students of classes I to VIII are already getting free books under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
In a review meeting held at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister announced that 100 toppers of class 12 board examinations of government schools would be given scholarships to prepare for higher education. Instructions were also given to prepare a proposal for distribution of amount of Rs 2850 to girl students of plain area and cycle to girl students of hilly area. When the matter of shortage of principals came to the fore in the meeting, he directed to remove it.
CM asked to form a task force under the chairmanship of DG-Education to resolve the proposal of integration of schools operating in one campus soon. In the meeting, Secretary Education Radhika Jha gave detailed information about the Education Department.
English-Computer guest teacher will be recruited
The government has taken an important decision to make students in government schools proficient in English and computer. Under this arrangement other than the working teachers, youth having mastery in English and computer will be appointed as guest teachers. This will not put extra pressure on the regular teachers. It will help the students to improve their academic and practical knowledge.
Dhami government will give tablets to lakh students
The government is going to give tablets to 2.43 lakh students of degree colleges and class 10 and 12. According to the announcement of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, tablets will be given soon. Chief Secretary Dr. SS Sandhu held a meeting with the officials of higher education and school education in the secretariat on Tuesday evening. Dr. Sandhu instructed to implement the scheme soon. In this, one lakh students are from degree colleges while 1.43 students are from class 10th-12th.
