Sarabjot Singh of Haryana has won gold medal in ISSF Shooting World Cup 2023. He topped the 10 meter air pistol event on Wednesday in the Shooting World Cup being played in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Sarabjot, son of a farmer from village Dhin, defeated Ruslan Lunev of Azerbaijan 16-0. This is the first gold medal for India in the World Cup 2023. And India’s Varun Tomar also got the bronze medal.
He shot 98, 97, 99, 97, 97, 97 in the qualification series. China’s Liu Jinyao finished second in the qualification series with a score of 584. In the final round, Sarabjot shot 253.2 and Ruslan shot 251.9. Varun finished third with a score of 250.3.
Shooters have come from countries like US, Iran, Canada
325 shooters from 33 countries have come to Bhopal to be part of the Shooting World Cup. These countries including India include Germany, Israel, America, Japan, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark, France, Britain, Hungary, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Maldives, Countries like Mexico, Romania, Singapore, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Switzerland, Sweden, Uzbekistan are included.
Seating arrangement for 375 spectators at Bhopal Shooting Academy
The atmosphere of the Shooting Academy here in Bhopal is also wonderful. There are 10, 25, 50 plus qualifying ranges for shotguns. 70 players can shoot simultaneously in 10 meters, 50 in 25 meters and 20 players in 50 meters. The final shooting range has upgraded machines. There is a seating arrangement for 375 spectators. This State Shooting Academy built in Bishan Khedi is spread over an area of 37 acres.
There is also a hostel where more than 240 players can stay. There is also a library, mini gym, dining area, meditation hall and entertainment zone in the hostel itself. However, players from abroad and other states have been stopped in Bhopal’s 5 star hotels like Marriott, Taj, Radiance, Jehan Numa.
