Indian tennis star Sania Mirza played her farewell match in Hyderabad on Sunday. Sania Mirza, who retired last month, played her last professional match at the Dubai Tennis Championships, though she could not win the tournament. After that match, Sania Mirza had said in her social post- ‘I will play for the last time in front of all my friends, my family and fans.’

2 Exhibition match – paired with Bopanna for mixed doubles
On Sunday, Sania will play two exhibition matches during her farewell. The first match will feature actors, cricketers and tennis players. One will be led by Sania, while the other team will be led by Rohan Bopanna, her last Grand Slam partner.
The second exhibition match of the day will be the mixed doubles. Her partner in mixed doubles will be Rohana Bopanna. And in front of them will be the pair of Ivan Dodig-Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
Lost the Australian Open final in January
Sania Mirza reached the final of the first Grand Slam of the year held in January, though she along with Rohan Bopanna lost to the Brazilian pair of Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos.
Won 43 trophies in career
At the junior level, he won 10 singles and 13 doubles titles. She started her professional tennis career in 2003 after debuting at the senior level in 2001. Starting her professional tennis career at the age of 16, Sania played tennis for 20 years in singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. In addition to 6 Grand Slams, he won a total of 43 trophies. In 2005, she won the WTA singles title for the first time.
Apart from this, she came close to winning the French Open 2 times and the Australian Open 3 times, but could not win the title.
Born in Mumbai, learned tennis in Hyderabad
Sania was born on 15 November 1986 in Mumbai. A few years after his birth, his family shifted to Hyderabad. There she grew up with her younger sister, Anam. It was here that he learned to play tennis and improved his skills. After schooling at Nassar School in Hyderabad, he graduated from St. Mary’s College.
Last singles played in 2013
Sania Mirza started her professional tennis career in 2004 from Women’s Singles. Due to more success in doubles and a wrist injury, he stopped playing singles in 2013. She focused only on playing women’s and mixed doubles in the last 10 years of her career.
