What happens in the world in general? The persecuted and ousted people either become violent for the oppressing power… or if they can’t do that, they keep on spewing venom against them from various forums.

In such a situation, if I tell you that there is a person who also has goodwill towards those who have occupied his and his people’s land, raises his voice but does not say bad to the opponent… then what would you call him? Maybe superman!

Today we will talk about one such person, who had to leave his capital and take refuge in India due to the attacks of the Chinese Communist government, yet he has no bitterness towards anyone and is the voice of millions of Tibetan people.

Welcome to Career Funda!

The year 1959, ordinary for a planet, but for people living on it like me and you, the year of the first spacecraft to reach the moon ‘Luna 1’ and the Oscar for the classic film ‘Ben-Hur’.

communism and its spread

During the Industrial Revolution in the nineteenth century, the ideology of creating a classless society born out of the oppression, exploitation and dissatisfaction of the working class became bigger in the form of ‘communism’. Many things kept happening in this sequence.

Forbidden land

March month of 1959. Looking at the Himalayas from the side of India and Nepal, on the other side of the Karakoram range, a large high plateau area, which is bounded by the Kunlun Mountains in the north and the Himalayas in the south. In the west are the Himalayan mountains of Nepal and India, while in the east are China’s Unnan, Sichuan, Qinghai and Xinjiang provinces. Apart from Pamir, the world’s only, another roof, Ice region – the place which remained independent under the rule of its kings and emperors for centuries. Where Buddhism arrived from India flourished and flourished peacefully and where Buddhist religious leaders we know as ‘Lama’ – the Forbidden and Mysterious land of ‘Tibet’.

Seventeen Point agreement

In fact, after the beginning of Communist rule in China in 1949, Tibet was attacked and merged in China in 1950 by signing the ‘Seventeen Point Agreement’, that is to say, had some autonomous rights. Some saw the ‘agreement’ as modernization of Tibet and some as an attack on its cultural roots. Well, the years passed, in the early months of 1959 a rumor spread in Tibet that the Chinese Communist government wanted to kidnap the ‘Fourteenth Dalai Lama’ from the Potala Palace, Lhasa, the official residence of the Tibetan religious leaders, and take him to Beijing. Is.

escape to india

The young Dalai Lama found refuge in India.

This led to growing voices against Chinese rule in Lhasa, but mostly through peaceful sit-ins and demonstrations. Although Chinese flags and symbols were burnt at many places and the Chinese were asked to leave the land of Tibet. In return, the Chinese government further increased the strength of the army. Thousands of Tibetans surrounded the Potala Palace to prevent the Dalai Lama from being taken away.

In the midst of this rush, taking advantage of the darkness, the 14th Dalai Lama managed to escape from the Potala Palace wearing a military uniform. He took refuge in India, from where he runs Tibet’s government-in-exile to this day.

5 big lessons from the life of the Dalai Lama

1) Humanity is bigger than any dispute between humans

With his ever-smiling face, the Dalai Lama may never have uttered words out loud, but his life screams it out.

After coming to India from Tibet, he was settled here at a place called ‘Dharamshala’ in Himachal Pradesh. Since then till today, the Dalai Lama has only been giving the message of peace. He always addresses Chinese as his brothers and sisters, even those in the military and government. He has always mourned the death of the Chinese people first when there was violence, and set an example of humanity.

Lesson – If we can understand this thing in our life too, then life will become very easy.

2) non-violence

He has always said that nonviolence as a means of resolving conflicts is a powerful tool. According to him it does not mean weakness, rather it takes strength and courage to practice non-violence. His commitment to non-violence can be seen in his peaceful protests against the Chinese occupation of Tibet.

Lesson – Hate the crime, not the criminal

3) Education is the key to progress

The Dalai Lama has always stressed the importance of education, especially in developing countries. He believes that education can empower individuals and communities to improve their lives. An example of this is how the Dalai Lama established several educational institutions in India to provide education to Tibetan children. For example Dalai Lama Institute of Higher Education etc.

Lesson – Always give importance to education

4) Mindfulness

Mindfulness brings inner peace. The Dalai Lama has always promoted the practice of mindfulness, That includes being present in the moment and being aware of your thoughts and feelings. He has said that mindfulness can help a person find inner peace and reduce stress. An example of this is how the Dalai Lama practices mindfulness during his daily meditation sessions.

Lesson – Mindfulness is the key to peace and happiness in life

5) Kindness and generosity make a difference

The Dalai Lama has always stressed the importance of kindness and generosity in making the world a better place. He said that small acts of kindness can have a big impact.
