The spokesman of the Central Election Commission said that on the basis of the interim report of the special observers, an order has been ordered to postpone the polling at booth 126 of Sitalkuchi assembly constituency of Cooch Behar. A detailed report has been sought from the Chief Electoral Officer till 5 pm. Polling has been postponed at Amtali Secondary Education Center (Booth 126) in Sitalkuchi assembly constituency. The source said that repatriation will be ordered in the coming days as part of the due process.
Significantly, in Coochbehar district, after the attack on locals on Saturday, CRPF allegedly opened fire, killing 4 people. It is alleged that the local people tried to snatch the rifles of the CRPF soldiers. A senior police officer said that the incident took place in Sitalkuchi when polling was underway. Security personnel were attacked in one village, after which they opened fire, killing four people.
