Chidambaram said that the situation abroad has increased the pressure on the economy, but the central government seems ignorant about the measures to deal with these developments. He also talked about a comprehensive review of the financial relations of the Centre-States and said that the time has come for this too. The former Finance Minister said that the financial condition of the states has never been so delicate before. However, he said that there is no fear of Sri Lanka-like situation here. Chidambaram said that despite the Modi government’s efforts to repress, the democratic process is going on here and we will be able to deal with the economic challenges.

He asked that in 2013, Narendra Modi had said that when our government is formed, the dollar will be of 40 rupees, so what happened to it. He said that Sushma Swaraj had also said this in many meetings, but it is a flaw in her policies, due to which the rupee has fallen to 77.42 against the dollar.
