Rest of India (ROI) captained by Mayank Agarwal has won the Irani Trophy. The team defeated Madhya Pradesh by a huge margin of 238 runs in the final match. Mumbai’s top order batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal was the hero of this victory.
Jaiswal, 21, scored a double century in the first innings (213 runs). After that he scored a century of 144 runs in the second innings.
In Gwalior on Sunday, Madhya Pradesh started their second innings with a score of 81/2 in response to a target of 437 runs. The team lost all its wickets for 198 runs. Captain Himanshu Mantri scored the highest 51 runs from his side. Saurabh Kumar got three wickets, Mukesh Kumar, Atit Sheth and Pulkit Narang got two wickets each.

Big lead in first innings to ROI
In the final match, Rest of India got a huge lead of 190 runs in the first innings. Batting first after winning the toss, Rest of India scored a score of 484 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (213 runs) scored a double century from the team. Apart from him, opener Abhimanyu Easwaran (154 runs) scored a century. Yash Dhull also played a half-century innings of 55 runs on the middle order. Avesh Khan took four wickets.
In response, MP’s first innings was reduced to 294 runs. The top-3 batsmen of the team got out early. In these Captain Himanshu Mantri 1, Arham Akil 0 and Shubham Sharma could score only 4 runs. In such a situation, Harsh Gwali, who came to play in the middle order, took the scorecard forward by playing innings of 54 and Yash Dubey 109 runs. There was a partnership of 114 runs on 260 balls between the two.
Then Saransh Jain (66 runs) and Ankit Kushwaha (22 runs) shared a useful partnership of 96 runs in 233 balls in the lower middle order.
Rest of India target of 437
After taking a lead of 190 runs in the first innings, Rest of India scored 246 runs in the second innings and set a target of 437 runs for victory in front of Madhya Pradesh. This time Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 144 runs on behalf of the team.
