Mumbai Indians (MI), owned by Nita Ambani, has bought the New York franchise for the Major Cricket League, which is going to start in America. The Indian League franchise made the announcement in a media release on Monday. The franchisee said – Our league will participate in the opening season of the league.
With this, Mumbai has 5 teams in leagues around the world. He has bought Mumbai Indians in IPL, MI Cape Town in SA20, MI Emirates in ILT, Mumbai Indians in WPL. Its teams are participating in 5 different leagues in three countries.
Mumbai has become the third Indian franchise to buy a team in the Major League. Earlier, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have bought Major League franchises.
The first season will be played in the month of July
The first season of the league will be held from July 13 to 30. Six teams will participate in it. These include teams in Dallas, St. Francisco, New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles and Washington DC. The league’s first match will be played on July 13 at the Grand Prairie Stadium near Dallas.
Players like Unmukt Chand and Corey Anderson will play
Big players like Under-19 World Cup winning captain Unmukt Chand and Corey Anderson of New Zealand will participate in Major League Cricket. Chand will be seen playing for Los Angeles Knight Riders and San Francisco Unicorns. Apart from these two, Liam Plunkett, a player from England’s ODI World Champion team, will also participate.
Mumbai is the most successful team of IPL
Mumbai Indians is the most successful Indian Premier League franchise in India. The team has won 5 IPL titles. The franchise became champions in the 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 seasons.
All SA20 teams from Indian franchises
All the teams participating in South Africa’s SA20 are Indian franchises. Ambani family of Mumbai Indians for Africa League, N.K. Srinivasan, Parth Jindal of Delhi Capitals, Maran Parivaar of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sanjiv Goenka of Lucknow Super Giants and Manoj Badale of Rajasthan Royals have bought six franchises in this league.
