India, much like other parts of the world, is under lockdown to stop the spread of the coronavirus. While you are at home, it is important to keep yourself healthy, connected with the loved ones digitally, stay informed as well as entertained. If you use Alexa and Amazon devices, you can get it done with a little effort. Here’s how:
Stay safe with Alexa
Amazon’s Alexa team has built an India-specific experience with the help of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as well as the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) that lets you use the virtual assistant to check your symptoms for COVID-19 at home.
You can try asking Alexa asking questions like, “Alexa, what do I do if I think I have coronavirus?”, “Alexa, how do I know if I have coronavirus?”, or “Alexa, Kya mujhe coronavirus hai?”. Alexa will ask a series of questions and provide updates from ICMR and the Ministry of Health given your risk level and symptoms.
It has been advised to wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds to stop the coronavirus from reaching to your face from hands. You can now also ask Alexa to sing a song for 20 seconds to keep track of time while washing hands. Just ask “Alexa, sing a song for 20 seconds” or “Alexa, sing the 20 second song”.
Get COVID-19 updates and news
You can also use Alexa to get information regarding COVID-19. For the latest news, customers can ask “Alexa, what is the coronavirus update?”, or use Alexa skills from news providers like NDTV and Aaj Oak. Just say “Alexa, play the news.”
You can also ask questions such as “Alexa, what is the coronavirus status in India?”, “Alexa, how many coronavirus cases have reported in Maharashtra?”, and “Alexa, what essential services are available during lockdown?”.
Get Alexa to call your friends and family
You can use Alexa video calling to stay connected with friends and family using compatible Echo devices, the Alexa app, or Skype. Just say, “Alexa, call Megha [name of the person].” You can also use the Drop-In feature to check on elders in the family throughout the day. Simply say, “Alexa, drop in on Mom.”
Entertainment with Amazon
Amazon has multiple platforms under its umbrella that provide access to entertaining content. You can stream free audio stories in six languages from Audible or access free eBooks on Kindle to read fiction and non-fiction literature from across the genres as well as books for children.
