Today, Professor Shoaib Zaheer of AMU’s Department of Medicine succumbed to corona. His body was buried today in the cemetery. AMU’s cemetery is filled with graves of people who have lost their lives in the last 20 days.
Dr. Arshi Khan, Professor of Political Science at AMU, said that the cemetery of the university is full of graves after the recent deaths. He said that this is a big tragedy. In this, many well-known doctors, veteran professors, deans, chairman of AMU have been arranged. He said that these were healthy and young people who lost their lives.
The second wave is more dangerous than the first wave
AMU spokesman Shafi Kidwai said that the first wave of Corona had not caused so much damage. AMU then played a leading role in fighting Kovid. The death rate in the second wave is very high. What is the reason behind this, it is a matter of concern.
Hostels vacant in the panic of Corona
About 30 thousand students study in AMU. About 16 thousand of them live in 19 hostels of the university. Even after the closure of the first university, a large number of common students, research scholars, students preparing for competitive examinations used to stay in hostels. But after so many deaths, there is an atmosphere of panic here and hostels are empty.
Salman Kamar, a research scholar living in the VM hostel of AMU, said that there are only 50-60 students in 450-capacity hostels. Some PhDs and some have stayed to submit their thesis. There are daily calls from the parents of the students who are still staying in the hostel, that they should leave everything and come home.
