Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan met the media on Thursday amid some increase in the number of corona cases in the country. He insisted, “Corona is not over yet. According to last week’s data, 93977 cases are coming daily in the world. 19% in America, 12.6% in Russia, 8.3% in China, 8% in South Korea and India 1% of cases are being reported.” Referring to the corona cases, he said that there have been up to six waves in the world and we have seen three waves in India itself.” PM Narendra Modi had a meeting on Wednesday on corona and seasonal influenza.

The average number of tests in February was 1 lakh, which later decreased. Now 1 lakh tests are being done daily. Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Himachal and Rajasthan are registering the maximum number of cases in 8 states. Instructions were given to these states as to what to do? Where there are more cases, there are more tests. At present, only the presence of the Omicron variant is in the country.
Only 27% people have taken booster dose.
Regarding the situation of Kovid in the country, he said, “Science says that from pandemic to endemic then the number of sub lineages increases. Omicron has more than 1000 sub lineages. It is not that all affect the body.” Rajesh Bhushan said that XBB 1.5 and 1.16 are variants of interest because of the high transmissibility but do not know how lethal they are. Information is being collected about this. 196 cases of XBB.1.5 have been detected while 344 cases of XBB.1.16 have been reported through genomic sequencing. xbb.1.16 has presence in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, and Delhi. Regarding booster dose, he said that only 27% people have taken booster dose. This needs to be increased.
