In the Copa America, a football tournament organized by the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), 10 hotel workers, including 31 players and officials, have been found to be corona infected. This time the Copa America is being held in Brazil from 13 June. It was previously hosted jointly by Argentina and Colombia. But due to the increasing case of Corona, it was decided to withdraw from both these events. After which its hosting was handed over to Brazil 13 days before the start of the tournament.
Brazil’s Health Minister Marcelo Quiroga said on Monday that players and officials from 10 countries were tested for corona on the first day of the tournament. In which 31 players and officials have been found corona infected. Apart from this, 10 employees of hotels in Brasilia have also been found to be corona infected. Sportsmen and officials are staying in these hotels.
Match draw between Argentina and Chile
Whereas the match played between Argentina and Chile ended in a 1-1 draw. For Argentina, Lionel Messi scored a goal before half time in the opening match of Group A to take the team 1-0 ahead. But Chile’s Eduardo Vargas equalized after half time. Argentina will now face Uruguay on June 19 while Chile will face Bolivia.
Brazil is hosting the Copa America for the second time
Brazil is hosting the Copa America for the second time. Earlier it was organized in 2019. It also hosted the World Cup in 2014.
