All the employees of the Central Bank of India are on a two-day nationwide protest from Monday to protest against the mass transfers. The strike began on Monday following the call of the United Forum of Central Bank Unions (UFCBU) affiliated to AIBEA, INBEF, BEFI, NCBE and NOBW. All India Bank Employees Association general secretary CH Venkatachalam said that a total of 14,000 clerks and sub-employees of the Central Bank of India participated in the strike. He said in a statement that as per the bilateral agreement, clerical staff of banks can be shifted from one place to another only when there is extra staff at one place and there is shortage of staff at other place.
In addition, employees are transferred from branch to branch of the same place. Mr. Venkatachalam said that in violation of this agreement, the central bank management transferred 3,300 employees in April 2022.
