BSF DG Pankaj Singh considered Drones a big challenge in terms of security

New Delhi :

The Border Security Force (BSF) is very serious about ‘Make in India’ and is using it in every field. BSF is also using “indigenous technology” nowadays to shoot down drones carrying deadly weapons, ammunition and drugs from Pakistan. BSF DG Pankaj Singh told NewsBust, “Drones are a big challenge. This new threat coming from the sky is a big issue. Although we have installed anti-drone technology on the border, but we do not have such a mega setup that covers the entire western sector. In this direction, we are in talks with many Indian companies. In the coming days, we can deploy this new technology in many more sensitive areas. ,

Interestingly, BSF has also developed drones that can fire tear gas shells with precision. DG Pankaj Singh said, “Our tear gas unit at Tekanpur has developed this type of drone which can not only carry 5 to 6 tear gas shells at a time but can also target these shells with precision. But can also drop. By the way, right now this technology has only been developed and it has not been implemented.

As compared to 12 months last year, 16 drones have been shot down in the first 11 months of this year. According to BSF analysis, most of these drones are from China and are easily available in the open market. “Most of them are ‘fabricated’,” explains Pankaj Singh. Since the drones have inbuilt chips, we have been able to retrieve the data in some cases. According to him, BSF is now opting for more and more indigenous based technologies as the foreign technology being used for surveillance was very expensive. He told, “BSF has insisted on developing its own system. We have developed low cost technology solutions with the help of our team. In fact, there is also indigenous technology for anti-tunnel detection, IED detection and border surveillance in dense fog. Monitoring has been increased keeping in view what is happening in the western sector along the border. Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System (CIBS) The work on CIBMS) is going on fast. The DG said, “The Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned Rs 30 crore for this issue. We are going to install 5500 cameras on our borders.”
