On Thursday, outbreak of avian flu was confirmed in chickens in 6 states Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab. Apart from this, bird flu has also been confirmed in crows-migratory or wild birds in 10 states of Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The districts of Maharashtra are Thane (Kalyan), Yavatmal (Dhunki, Pusad), Wardha (Chakni, Hingaghat), Gondia (Nimba, Goregaon), Ahmednagar (Bhumir Chavan) and Hingoli (Pimpri Khurd); Bird flu has been confirmed in poultry samples in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district (Garratganj) and Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh. In Uttar Pradesh (Unnao’s Sikanderpur, Haraha, Karan), avian flu has been confirmed in swans. Steps are being taken to control and prevent the affected places of Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
To monitor the situation in the affected areas of the country, the central parties have visited the Parbhani district of Maharashtra to monitor the AI outbreak centers and have conducted an epidemic study. All the states and union territories are giving information to the department on daily basis regarding the adopted control measures based on preparedness, revised action plan, 2021 for control and prevention of avian flu.
