An Army Mi-17V5 helicopter crashed on Wednesday in the forests of Coonoor in Tamil Nadu. After this accident, the helicopter caught fire. In this, 13 officers of the army including Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat were on board. Rawat was accompanied by his wife Madhulika.
Dhoni had sought permission to train
Army Chief Bipin Rawat was requested by Lieutenant Colonel Cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni to train in the Parachute Regiment two years ago. Bipin Rawat had accepted Dhoni’s request. Dhoni then trained in the Parachute Regiment for two months. At that time Team India was going to tour West Indies.

During the training, Rawat had said about Dhoni that Dhoni is performing his duties in the army. They will play the role of protector like other soldiers. When an Indian citizen wants to wear the uniform of the army, he is ready to perform the task for which he has been given the uniform.

Dhoni then told the BCCI that he would not be able to go on the West Indies tour as he wanted to give the army the next two months.
He further said that Dhoni has received basic training and we know that he is capable of accomplishing that task. Let us tell you, Dhoni was part of the 106 Para Territorial Army Battalion of the Parachute Regiment. During this training, Dhoni did patrolling, guard and post duty like ordinary soldiers.
