Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Sunday appealed to people from Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and other parts of India, citing Democratic candidate Joe Biden in the US presidential election. While urging people to vote, they should expect unity instead of fear, unity instead of division and truth instead of lies. The first phase of voting is to be held in Bihar on 28 October. The Election Commission has asked to prepare keeping the coronavirus epidemic in mind.

Apart from the assembly elections in Bihar, by-elections in one Lok Sabha seat and 56 assembly seats in 12 states are to be held in the first week of November. It also includes by-elections in 28 seats of Madhya Pradesh.
