Internet was entered in 1999
Internet and television were allowed in Bhutan only in 1999. For the first time in 1970, a foreign tourist was allowed to come here. Even now the authorities keep a close watch on foreign influence. Smartphones and bars are now commonplace in the capital Thimphu. Youth are in abundance in the population here. They have readily accepted social media. Because of this, there has been a boom in street fashion and politics is being discussed more openly.
