Vijay Nair, the communication in-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party, an accused in the Delhi Excise scam case, arranged a Facetime videocall between Indospirits MD Sameer Mahendru and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from his phone. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has made this allegation in a new charge sheet. The agency alleges that Vijay Nair, on behalf of AAP leaders, took Rs 100 crore as advance from “South Group” for license in Delhi Liquor Policy. In this chargesheet, which is with NewsBust, it has also been claimed that Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party used the excise scam money for its election campaign in Goa. The agency alleges that Rs 70 lakh was paid to the volunteers of the survey teams.

The probe agency has alleged that the “South Group” included Kavitha of the ruling Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi in Telangana, Magunta Srinivasalu Reddy, MP of the ruling YSR Congress in Andhra, and Sharath Reddy of Aurobindo Pharma. The ED has claimed that Kejriwal told Sameer Mahindroo, “Vijay is my man, you should trust him and do as he says.”
On the other hand, reacting to the question regarding the use of excise policy money in Goa in ED’s charge sheet, Arvind Kejriwal said, “ED must have filed 5000 cases. ED is meant to bring down the government and buy/sell MLAs. The charge sheet is complete fiction.” Significantly, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. The ED had on January 6 filed a supplementary charge sheet against five people and seven companies in the case in connection with alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled liquor policy. The money laundering case was initiated following an FIR by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in which Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also named as an accused, among others. After registering the case, the CBI raided the premises of the Deputy Chief Minister and some bureaucrats of the Delhi government. The excise scheme came under the scanner after the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi recommended a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in the implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.
