The then Mumbai Police Commissioner Parambir Singh has alleged that Home Minister Anil Deshmukh used to call API Sachin Waze directly at his bungalow and had targeted him to recover Rs 100 crore. After Parambir Singh’s allegations, Deshmukh has also resigned from the post of Home Minister of Maharashtra. Significantly, in the case related to Antilia and Mansukh Hiren, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is tightening its grip on the claim.

The NIA had recently taken Waje to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in connection with the investigation into the case of Mansukh Hiren’s death. In fact, on the day Hiren died, Waje caught the train to nearby Thane from the same day. A police official said that in the CCTV footage of March 4, Waje was seen catching the train from Thane CSMT. So the NIA took Waje to the station on Tuesday night to understand things. The NIA then took Vaje to Mumbra Creek in Thane district, from where Hiren’s body was found on 5 March.

Significantly, on 25 February, Waje came under the scanner of the NIA after the recovery of gelatin sticks from an SUV near Mukesh Ambani’s home in Antilia and then Hiren’s death under suspicious circumstances. Waje was arrested on 13 March. The officer said that during the investigation on CSMT, NIA officials asked Waje to walk on ‘platform number’ four so that the person seen in the CCTV footage and his gait could be compared. Waje was then taken to Mumbra Creek, where the reindeer’s body was found last month.
