Madhya Pradesh women’s cricketer Anshula Rao has been banned for four years for testing positive for dope. She is the first female cricketer in the country to be banned for dope. On Monday, the National Doping Agency’s disciplinary panel also found him guilty of consuming the anabolic steroid ’19-noandrosterone. However, she could not present any strong facts in her defense before the panel. However, Anshula Rao, while presenting her side, said that there is a gap of four months between the charges leveled against her and the dope test.
Banned medicine has been found in both the samples of Anshula. In such a situation, Anshula will also have to bear the cost of B sample Rs 2 lakh.
Samples were sent to a Belgian lab
Anshula Rao’s sample was taken on March 14 last year in Baroda. She had failed the dope test. Both their samples were sent to the laboratory of Belgium. Samples of banned drug were found in the investigation.
Anshula Rao has played in the Under-23 World Cup
Anshula Rao came to play for the last time in the Under-23 World Cup in 2019-20. He was suspended in March last year for consuming a prohibited substance. Anshula could not tell the panel how the last banned substance reached her body.
Prithvi Shaw has been banned
On the other hand, if we talk about Indian male cricketers, then earlier international cricketer Prithvi Shaw has also been banned for failing a dope test. He was caught in the dope test for taking cough medicine during the 2019 home season. After which he was banned for eight months by the BCCI. Shaw later said that he was troubled by cough, so after asking his father, he took syrup for cough.
