Khalistani supporter Amritpal Singh is still absconding. For the last four days, the police is looking for him. The car in which he fled has also been recovered by the police. Meanwhile, there is talk of Amritpal Singh’s connection with Pakistan’s intelligence agency as well. Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh was taken to Dibrugarh in Assam this morning. On Sunday, four arrested associates of Amritpal were also taken to Dibrugarh Central Jail.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court will hear the Centre’s response to Amritpal Singh’s plea seeking his “release” today. The legal advisor of Amritpal Singh-led organization ‘Waris Punjab De’ has filed a habeas corpus petition. Iman Singh Khara claimed in his petition that Amritpal is in illegal custody of the police.

Officials say the ‘top secret’ operation was a joint effort between Aam Aadmi Party-ruled Punjab, the Center and BJP-ruled Assam. Sources say that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann discussed the plan to arrest Amritpal Singh with Home Minister Amit Shah in a meeting on 2 March.

Home Ministry sources said Amritpal Singh was planning to take out a statewide procession to baptize youths to carry out suicide attacks. He said that the Khalistani leader was using de-addiction centers to store weapons illegally imported from Pakistan.
