According to information received from police sources, Amritpal Singh stayed at the house of one of his associates in Shahbad, Kurukshetra on Sunday and left the next morning. Police has arrested associate Baljeet Kaur. Kaur told the police that Amritpal had come with another associate, Papalpreet.
Kurukshetra Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria told news agency PTI, “We have arrested Baljit Kaur, the woman who gave shelter to Amritpal and his associate Papalpreet Singh in Shahbad on Sunday. The woman has been handed over to the Punjab Police.
Police has started action last week
Last month, Amritpal Singh and his supporters, brandishing swords and guns, stormed the Ajnala police station on the outskirts of Amritsar city. They clashed with the police demanding the release of one of the fundamentalist preacher’s associates. The Punjab Police had initiated action against Amritpal Singh and ‘Waris Punjab De’ last week.
Funding was being done from 158 foreign accounts
During this, Punjab Police and intelligence agencies came to know during investigation that Amritpal Singh was being funded from 158 foreign accounts. Out of these, an amount of more than 5 crores was sent from 28 accounts.
Gunman Gorkha Baba arrested
Earlier, Amritpal Singh’s gunman Tejinder Singh alias Gorkha Baba has been arrested by the Khanna police. Police arrested from Ludhiana. He is also named in the Ajnala case. According to the report of the news agency ANI, Amritpal Singh’s gunman Tejinder Singh alias Gorkha Baba was always deployed in his security. Tejinder Singh is also an accused in the Ajnala case. It is being told that Tejinder Singh is a resident of Mangewal in Malod.
Amritpal changed his appearance
Amritpal Singh has also changed his look to avoid being caught by the police. On Tuesday, a picture of Amritpal came to the fore, in which his appearance has changed. In the pictures released by the police, it can be seen that Amritpal has shaved his beard, removed the traditional Sikh bana and is wearing a pink turban. According to the report, a Khalistani supporter had taken Granthi and his family hostage in a gurudwara. While there he ate food and changed his look as well.
