The central government has ordered the Serum Institute of India (SII) for the vaccine coviShield of Oxford-AstraZeneca. SII officials gave this information on Monday. A dose of vaccine will cost Rs 200. KoviShield can supply more than 10 million doses every week. The government has fixed January 16 for vaccination.
DCGI approved on January 3
The drug controller general of India (DCGI) gave approval to Kovyshield on January 3. Different things have been revealed about its effectiveness. AstraZeneca claimed to have up to 90% overall efficacy.
Regarding this, the Indian regulator believes that this vaccine is up to 70% effective. When such different information is coming out, it has become necessary to know the study of British and Indian regulators.
Oxford has made the vaccine
CoveShield or AZD1222 is formed by Oxford University and its company Vacitech. Chimpanzees have been used to weaken the cold-causing virus (adenovirus). It has the genetic material of SARS-CoV-2 ie Novel Coronavirus.
