Actress Rakulpreet has approached the Delhi High Court on the name of a drug case related to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and has demanded a ban on the media reports. The actress has said in her petition that a media trial is being conducted against her. Rakulpreet has issued a directive to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry from the court to stop such reports in the media. For this, the actress has cited the program code and guidelines of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting that the media cannot run a hate campaign. The case is being heard by Justice Naveen Chawla.

Rakulpreet's lawyer said that Rakulpreet came to know during a shooting that Riya Chakraborty had named him and Sara Ali Khan for taking drugs. After this the media trial started. The media has reached her house and she is being harassed. The lawyer said that the court should interfere in this matter. In the petition, the actress has said that my rights are violated under a media trial article 21. The lawyer said that the court should issue instructions that the media should not be allowed to run the details of the case under consideration in any court.

During the hearing, the court asked- "What can we do today? Have you filed a complaint with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting? It may be that the media is getting agitated, but what can we do?" At this, Rakul's lawyer told the court, "Issue an order to stop the transmission of malicious and abusive material against me." To this, Justice Chawla said, "SC has also noted the issue of this media campaign in other cases, they are not self-regulating, what do we do?"

Later, the bench issued notice to the Central Government, NBA and Press Council of India asking them to have a side in the matter. However, the court said that it is expected that the media house and TV channel will follow the program code and other guidelines while making any report regarding Rakulpreet.
