The work of collecting money for the Ram temple to be built in Ayodhya is starting on January 15 i.e. Makar Sankranti. This program will be of 42 days. It will end on 27th February i.e. Magh Purnima. The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust has named it ‘Ram Mandir Nidhi Surrender Campaign’. For this campaign, we spoke to Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s International Working President and the head of this campaign Alok Kumar, campaign head for Madhya Pradesh Rajesh Tiwari and co-campaign head of Bihar Parashuram Kumar. Excerpts from the conversation …
What will be the outline of fundraising campaign
We are all working as members of the Ram temple pilgrimage area. The target is to reach 65 crore people from 13 crore families in 5.25 lakh villages across the country. The figure may also increase. For this, teams have also been formed in every state. The target is to reach 6.5 crore in Madhya Pradesh and 7.5 crore in Bihar. Similarly, other states have also set their targets.
In what mode will donations be accepted for Ram temple
Right now money is being taken in three ways. One can be deposited through coupon, second through receipt and third through direct account. Coupons and receipts have been sent to the states on behalf of the trust. There will be coupons of Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 1000. 8 crores of 100 rupees, 4 crores of 10 rupees and 12 lakh coupons of 1000 rupees will be printed. Anybody who wants to donate more than this can do it through receipt. There is no limit for that.
There will be a picture of Lord Ram and the temple on the coupon. Those who donate through the receipt will be presented with a leaflet and a picture of Ram Ji. The leaflet will have information about the history of the temple. Which will be in the mother tongue of the states besides Hindi, English.
Apart from this, people who donate large amount will be presented with things like organ wear, coffee table in memory and leaflets. Although this is not mandatory. States are free to decide at their level what they want to present.
Coupon of one thousand rupees issued by Shriram Janma Bhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The trusts have issued coupons of Rs 10, Rs 100 and Rs 1000.
Will the money be accepted from abroad
At the moment, foreign money will not be accepted. This requires validation of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), which the trust does not currently have. The process is going on with this. But how long will the approval be available, nothing can be said about it.
Can i donate jewelry or grain
Now only cash will be taken. No jewelery, grain or any other property will be accepted. Those who want to donate must sell these things and collect money. They can then donate through coupons or receipts.
What measures have been taken in terms of transparency and security
Donations will be accepted only through coupons and receipts. Within 24 hours in rural areas and 48 hours in urban areas, the amount deposited throughout the day will have to be deposited in the nearest bank. On the first day, the branch of the bank where the money will be deposited, will have to deposit the money in the same branch of the same bank for the next 42 days. Separate deposit slips have been printed for depositing money in banks, which have code numbers and not account numbers.
This amount will be deposited in only three banks. These banks are State Bank, Punjab National Bank and Bank of Baroda. These three banks will only work as a collection account for deposits. Money will not be able to be withdrawn from here.
How many people will be formed and how many people will be in it
There will be a committee at the district level in all states. Committees will also be formed at the block level in many states. For this there will also be an office in every district. Offices have been established in some states while many are still in process. Tollies will be made according to the need in every village or locality. There can also be 4-5 groups in a village.
Each team will have five people including a team leader. He will have coupons and receipts. Money collection will do the same. Similarly, there will be a depositor for every five teams. This will go to the bank and deposit money.
People associated with this campaign are being trended at every level. Online training is being provided across the country. This includes things like handling of squads, booking accounts, depositing money in banks, publicity. Experts related to these subjects are giving training.
Receipt of money collection issued by Shriram Janma Bhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Those who donate more than two thousand will be able to do it through the receipt.
The committees are formed in the center, state and districts. Most of them are people associated with the Sangh and Vishwa Hindu Parishad. In such a situation, the question is whether the common citizen can be part of the group …
Alok Kumar says that it is not necessary that if he is associated with the Sangh or VHP, then he will join the committee. Any social worker or important person from that state or district can be part of the team. At the same time, Rajesh Tiwari says that anyone can join the money collection team. For this, he will have to contact the team leader at the local level. But the responsibility of the depositor or team leader will be given to the one who is already familiar.
What kind of groups will be there and what will be their work
It is the responsibility of the states to make teams. They are making teams at their convenience. The groups which have been formed mainly are as follows …
How much is the target of wealth collection
We have not yet set any target regarding wealth collection. We will accept whatever people give in the name of Ram with reverence. Anyway, more things have to be built along with the temple, which is just on the drawing board. Approval not received. Therefore, it is difficult to estimate the total expenditure from now on.
Let us tell you that the trust has formed a separate committee for the construction of the temple on its behalf. It is headed by Nripendra Mishra. A separate auditor general has also been appointed to handle the account.
Which programs will be organized for publicity and public awareness
The Trust tries to make this campaign a mass campaign, that means every person has a role in it. For this, awareness campaigns are being conducted at every level. In many places temples include programs like recitation of Hanuman Chalisa, Prabhat Pheri, Raat Jagran Bhajan Kirtan, advertisements in newspapers, daily press conferences.
