In the famous brother-sister rape case of Bathinda, Punjab, Haryana, the court has sentenced life imprisonment to 7 convicts, including a tantrik. After the announcement of the sentence, the tantrik started crying in the court and begged the judge for mercy. The other 6 persons who were punished include grandmother, parents and other relatives of the children. The hearing of the case was going on in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Baljinder Singh Sara. Those punished include 4 women and 2 men from a family.
According to the case, on the night of March 8, 2017, the family members of 8-year-old Ranjodh Singh and his 3-year-old sister Anamika Kaur had sacrificed themselves at home in Kotphatta village of Bathinda district after coming under the influence of Tantrik Lakhwinder Singh Lakhi. His aunt was not having any children. Due to this the lives of innocent children were taken.

In this case on Thursday, the court of ADJ Baljinder Singh Sara, Tantrik Lakhwinder alias Lakhi, grandmother Nirmal Kaur, father Kulwinder Singh, mother Randhir Kaur alias Rosie, uncle Jaspreet Singh, aunt Ramandeep Kaur alias Amandeep Kaur and Gagandeep Kaur alias Gagan was sentenced to life imprisonment. He was also fined Rs 50,000.

After being sentenced, the main accused Tantrik Lakhwinder Lakhi, who told people’s future, started begging for mercy with folded hands in the court itself. A large number of people had reached the court in the afternoon regarding the hearing of the famous rape case. Court staff and lawyers were also present in it. Among those punished, 6 members belong to a family. Among them four are women and three are men.

People had formed an action committee to get justice for both the children. Committee leaders Bhai Paranjit Singh Jaggi Baba and Baljinder Singh Kotbhara told that well-known lawyer Charanpal Singh Brar had demanded death sentence for all the culprits before the court. After listening to the arguments of all the parties, the court sentenced the seven convicts to life imprisonment at around 3 pm.
The one who took the lives of her own people has now started hiding her face.
All the culprits were also fined. In case of non-payment of fine, additional imprisonment of three months will have to be served. He said that a writ petition would be filed in the Punjab Haryana High Court for capital punishment for all the culprits. Youth leaders Pradeep Singh Bhagivander, Sukhpal Singh Pala, Gursewak Singh Kotbhai, BKU revolutionaries Surjit Singh Bhuchko Khurd, Surmukh Singh Selbarah, farmer leaders Rajminder Singh Kotbhara, Nachtar Singh and a large number of youth were also present on this occasion.
