Is there a formula for happiness… does it have an address? Your mind is the answer to these two difficult questions. Happiness is in your mind, it needs to be sought inside not outside. Today on the anniversary of No Negative Monday, read what science and psychology say about happiness… How life is the biggest source of energy…
Write down three things every day that you are thankful for
Dr. Robert Waldinger, professor of psychology at Harvard Medical School, says that ever wondered why someone’s fierce praise becomes useless just by making a criticism? Why is the fun of a nice and wonderful long vacation ruined by a fight on the last day over some small issue? Why does a fly hovering around food take away the pleasure of the best of food? The reason for this is that our brain notices negative things quickly.
Professor Dr. Robert Waldinger says that writing down three things every day for which you are thankful will help you focus on the positive things in life.
The solution is to show gratitude. Write down three things every day that you are thankful for. With this, you will start focusing on the positive things in life. Still feel that there is something positive in life, otherwise adopt ‘counterfactual thinking’. For this, resort to the formula ‘if this is not there’. In this, you have to ask yourself such things as- What if you did not have a best friend? What if nothing is available to eat? Feel like you have so many things to be thankful for? We are never thankful for the days when we are not sick or in pain. Never say thank you for those nights when it rains with a roof over your head. Do not express gratitude for those mornings, which bring a new day in life.
Distance from false friends of social media and do not buy excessively
Laurie Santos, a Yale University psychologist who teaches The Science of Happiness. He says that while teaching children the lesson of happiness, he did not know when I became burnout (a victim of work stress). Symptoms like sadness, irritability and exhaustion started appearing. I took a break and shifted to Cambridge with my husband. If you’re wondering how I got burnout despite being a professor of happiness, what do you do? It has nothing to do with him. Burnout can happen to anyone. According to the McKenzie Health Institute Survey-2022, about 30% of employees in the US are burnout.
Psychologist Laurie Santos says that you can’t control everything that takes away your happiness, but keeping yourself happy can be in your hands.
Our mind also confuses us. Incites to do such things, which can give happiness for some time, but it is not sustainable. People think that money, status and good grades will bring happiness. But science says that sleep, exercise, good food and drink can give happiness. You don’t have control over everything that takes away your happiness, but keeping yourself happy can be in your hands. Create a separate identity of your own. Especially in those works in which you are not good. Apart from this, take regular walks and spend time with your loved ones. Avoid false friends like social media and excessive purchases.
