The auction for the Women’s IPL teams is underway.
Who will be the owner of the 5 teams of Women’s IPL, it will be decided after the auction today. The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) can get up to 4 thousand crore rupees from this auction. According to media reports, a team can be sold for Rs 500 to 600 crores. The bid can also go above Rs 800 crore.
This big group in the field
17 companies are betting to buy the team in Women’s IPL. Although more than 30 companies had bought the tender. Men’s IPL 7 teams Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals have also shown interest in buying women’s teams. Apart from these, the country’s big industrial houses Adani Group, Capri Global, Haldiram Group, Torrent Pharma, Apollo Pipes, Amritleela Enterprises, Shriram Group and Slingshot 369 Ventures Private Limited are also participating in the auction of IPL teams.
Teams share up to 80% in media rights
The board recently sold the media rights of the Women’s IPL for Rs 951 crore for 5 years. That means one match will cost Rs 7 crore. The board will distribute 80% of the media rights earnings among the teams for the first five years. After this 5 years 60% and after that 50% share will go to the teams account. Apart from this, the franchisee will also get 80 per cent of the amount received from the Central Licensing Rights. The rest of the revenue will come from sponsors, sales and tickets.
The first season will be in March this year
The first season of Women’s IPL will be played in March this year. A total of 22 matches between the 5 teams will be held at DY Patil and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai only. The Wankhede Stadium will be made ready for the men’s IPL. The BCCI had been organizing the Women’s T20 Challenge till now. In comparison, the men used to be in the middle of the IPL season.
Teams will get Rs 12 crore for the auction
A women’s IPL team will get a purse of Rs 12 crore for buying a player in the auction. Every year there will be an increase of Rs 1.5 crore in the purse. The auction will be held on January 25 after the names of the five teams are revealed.
Women’s IPL will have 22 matches this year
A total of 22 matches between the 5 teams will be held at DY Patil and Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai only. The Wankhede Stadium will be made ready for the men’s IPL. At the same time, the champion of the women’s IPL for the first time will get Rs 6 crore.
5 foreign players will play in one team
5 foreign players will be able to play in a women’s IPL team. 4 from test playing countries and one player from associate country. If the associate country’s players are not in the team, then only 4 foreign players will play in a team. Men can play 4 foreign players in a team of IPL. It is not necessary to have players from the associate country.
Will get prize money of 10 crores
The winning team of the Women’s IPL will get Rs 6 crore, the runner-up Rs 3 crore and the third-placed team Rs 1 crore. In this way a total of Rs 10 crore will be distributed as prize money. There will be 20 league matches in the tournament of 5 teams. Each team will play 2-2 matches against the rest of the teams. The team that tops the points table will reach the finals.
The second and third number teams in the points table will play the Eliminator. The team that wins the Eliminator will go to the finals and the losing team will finish in third place.
The prize money of men’s IPL is 4.6 times more
Compared to the total prize money of women’s IPL, the prize money of men’s IPL is 4.6 times less. The men’s IPL winning team gets Rs 20 crore and the runner-up team gets Rs 13 crore. Including the prize money of the third and fourth place teams, the total amount becomes Rs 46.5 crore. The total prize money of women’s IPL is Rs 10 crore. At the same time, the winner of Pakistan’s Men’s Franchise League (PSL) gets Rs 3.4 crore. Which is Rs 2.6 crore less than the prize money of the Women’s IPL champion.
